Fatal Hit and Run in Buena Park

Authorities in Buena Park are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that claimed the life of a pedestrian early Monday morning, March 9, 2026. According to police, the crash occurred at approximately 1:50 a.m. near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Artesia Boulevard. Surveillance footage from the area captured the moment the tragic incident took place. The video shows a man walking across Artesia Boulevard toward the west side of the street when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound on Beach Boulevard.

Investigators said the driver appeared to have a green light at the time of the collision but did not stop after hitting the pedestrian. The impact threw the victim several feet down the roadway. Instead of remaining at the scene, the driver continued driving southbound and fled the area. Motorists traveling behind the suspect vehicle were seen braking abruptly after witnessing the crash. Witnesses quickly contacted emergency services to report the incident.

Police officers responded to the scene shortly after receiving the 911 calls. The injured pedestrian was transported to UCI Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite efforts by medical personnel, the victim later died from the injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not yet publicly released the identity of the deceased individual.

During the investigation, police located the suspect vehicle, described as a white Kia sedan, abandoned roughly eight miles away in the city of Garden Grove. The vehicle was discovered unoccupied near the intersection of Valley View Street and Chapman Avenue. Investigators are continuing their search for the driver responsible for the fatal collision.

Pedestrian accidents and hit-and-run collisions often leave victims and their families facing overwhelming emotional and financial hardships. When a driver strikes a pedestrian and flees the scene, the consequences can be devastating, and in many cases these tragedies may lead to a wrongful death claim. The attorneys at The Medler Law Firm are committed to helping victims and families pursue justice when negligence results in serious injury or loss of life. Our legal team conducts thorough investigations, gathers surveillance footage, reviews police reports, and works with experts to determine exactly how the collision occurred and who should be held responsible.

Even when the at-fault driver cannot be located or does not have insurance, victims may still have legal options available. In many pedestrian accident cases, injured individuals or surviving family members can pursue compensation through their own uninsured motorist (UM) coverage, even if they were not inside a vehicle at the time of the crash. California law often allows uninsured motorist protection to apply when a person is struck by a vehicle as a pedestrian. The attorneys at The Medler Law Firm help clients navigate these complex insurance claims and ensure their rights are fully protected. Our goal is to pursue the maximum compensation available for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and damages associated with a wrongful death.
