Seven people were injured Tuesday morning, February 24, 2026, when an SUV mounted a sidewalk and crashed into a tree in downtown Los Angeles. The collision occurred around 11:45 a.m. in the Flower District near San Julian Street and East 8th Street, directly outside a flower shop. According to authorities, multiple pedestrians were struck when the vehicle left the roadway. Two victims sustained grave, life-threatening injuries, while three others suffered minor injuries requiring hospital treatment. In total, five individuals were transported to local hospitals for further care.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the full extent of the victims’ injuries remains under evaluation. Surveillance footage captured the moment the SUV jumped the curb and collided with a tree. A 13-year-old boy was among those injured and reportedly suffered a broken foot and additional trauma. Bystanders rendered aid to victims before emergency personnel arrived at the scene. Incidents involving vehicles striking pedestrians often raise serious questions regarding driver negligence, roadway safety, and liability. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an active investigation to determine the cause of the crash and whether any criminal or civil liability will follow.
