A Los Angeles firefighter was killed in a tragic off-duty crash on the 605 Freeway in Whittier during the early morning hours of July 24, 2026. Authorities identified the victim as 35-year-old Stan Reza, a three-year veteran of the Los Angeles Fire Department. According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 2:20 a.m. on the northbound 605 Freeway near Beverly Boulevard. Investigators said Reza was driving a pickup truck when it collided with a big rig for reasons that remain under investigation. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but Reza suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later determined that he died from blunt traumatic injuries sustained in the crash.
