Three People Injured After SUV Crashes Into Table Outside Grocery Store in Boyle Heights

Three people were hospitalized after an SUV crashed onto a sidewalk and struck people seated outside a Boyle Heights grocery store on Tuesday afternoon, July 8, 2026. The collision occurred near the intersection of Cesar Chavez Avenue and Lorena Street at approximately 3:20 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Emergency responders arrived to find three victims injured after the vehicle slammed into a table outside Los 5 Puntos grocery store. A woman believed to be in her 50s suffered a broken leg but was conscious and breathing when first responders arrived. An approximately 50-year-old man also remained conscious and breathing but complained of head pain before being transported to a local hospital.

Authorities confirmed that both victims were taken to the hospital for treatment. A third injured person was also transported to a hospital, although officials have not released information regarding that individual’s condition. Aerial footage from Sky5 showed an older-model white SUV resting on the sidewalk with a shattered rear window and significant front-end damage following the collision. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the SUV to leave the roadway and strike the pedestrians.

Police have not announced whether speed, alcohol, drugs, or another factor contributed to the crash. Authorities also have not said whether the driver was taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to determine the circumstances that led to the frightening sidewalk collision.
