A tragic high-speed crash on Mulholland Highway in Calabasas claimed the lives of two men over the weekend, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Authorities said the collision occurred just before 7:30 p.m. on June 20 near Dry Canyon Cold Creek Road. Investigators identified the driver as 45-year-old Omri Moalem, who was behind the wheel of a gray Porsche two-door convertible traveling southbound on Mulholland Highway.
Preliminary reports indicate that Moalem lost control of the vehicle while driving at a high rate of speed. The Porsche crashed violently into a fire hydrant, an iron fence, and a tree before ultimately coming to rest upside down. Sheriff’s officials stated that speed appears to have been a major contributing factor in the deadly collision.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies and paramedics responded quickly to the scene. Both Moalem and his passenger, 37-year-old Yanir Ruham, were pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later confirmed both men died from blunt-force trauma sustained in the crash.
Mulholland Highway was temporarily shut down in both directions near Dry Canyon Cold Creek Road as investigators worked the scene and cleared the wreckage. The investigation into the fatal crash remains ongoing.
