Father Saves Daughter's Life Before Pickup Truck Hits Him

A Southern California father is recovering after sacrificing himself to save his young daughter from an out-of-control pickup truck in Venice. The incident occurred in June 2026 as 38-year-old Jordan Stannard and his family were standing outside their vehicle. According to Stannard, the driver of a pickup truck suddenly lost control and barreled toward him and his 2-year-old daughter, Sadie. With only seconds to react, he threw his daughter into the safety of the family vehicle before the truck struck him. His quick actions are credited with saving his daughter’s life.

Stannard recalled hearing bystanders screaming and calling for someone to dial 911 in the chaotic moments following the collision. He was rushed to a hospital with catastrophic injuries, including severe trauma to his left leg that ultimately required amputation. A marathon runner and Ironman competitor before the crash, Stannard has vowed to work tirelessly through rehabilitation and be fitted with a prosthetic limb.

He says his greatest motivation is returning home to his wife and two young daughters so he can once again hold them, play with them, and help raise his family. Despite the life-changing injuries, Stannard remains determined to return to the active lifestyle he enjoyed before the crash and has already set a goal of running the Los Angeles Marathon in 2027. His remarkable courage and resilience continue to inspire those following his recovery as he focuses on rebuilding his life one step at a time.

At the Medler Law Firm, we are dedicated to helping victims of pedestrian accidents recover the compensation they deserve after life-changing injuries. We understand that pedestrians have little protection when struck by a vehicle, and the resulting injuries are often catastrophic. Our legal team conducts thorough investigations to determine exactly how the collision occurred and who should be held accountable. We gather critical evidence, including police reports, surveillance footage, witness statements, and accident reconstruction when necessary.

Whether the crash was caused by distracted driving, speeding, impaired driving, or a driver’s failure to yield, we aggressively fight to protect our clients’ rights. Victims may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, future medical care, and permanent disabilities. In catastrophic injury cases involving amputations or other life-altering injuries, we work closely with medical experts to fully document our clients’ long-term needs and future damages.

We handle every aspect of the insurance claim so our clients can focus on healing and rebuilding their lives. If a fair settlement cannot be reached, we are fully prepared to take pedestrian accident cases to trial and fight for the maximum compensation our clients deserve.
