One person was killed and three others were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash in Moreno Valley on August 28, 2026. Deputies with the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to the intersection of Iris Avenue and Lasselle Street shortly before 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a serious collision. When deputies and emergency personnel arrived, they discovered four vehicles with significant damage from the crash. Four people were transported to nearby hospitals in critical condition for emergency medical treatment. One of the victims, identified as 65-year-old David Betts of Menifee, later died from his injuries. Authorities have not released the identities or updated conditions of the three other people who were hospitalized.
Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events that caused the four-vehicle collision. Officials said it remains unknown whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the deadly crash. No arrests have been made in connection with the collision. Authorities have not announced whether speeding, distracted driving, or any other factors are suspected of contributing to the incident.
