Authorities are investigating a fatal collision involving an Alhambra Police Department vehicle and a motorcycle that occurred in La Puente on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The crash happened just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Amar Road and Evanwood Avenue. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after reports of a serious traffic collision involving an undercover police vehicle and a motorcyclist. The motorcyclist suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts by Alhambra Police Department personnel.
Two people who were inside the police van sustained minor injuries and were treated following the collision. According to investigators, the undercover police van was traveling southbound through the intersection after stopping at a stop sign. At the same time, the motorcycle was traveling westbound on Amar Road toward Evanwood Avenue. For reasons that remain under investigation, the two vehicles collided in the intersection.
Authorities said the officers in the van were in the area to serve a search warrant when the crash occurred. Amar Road was closed for several blocks in both directions as investigators documented the scene and gathered evidence. The identity of the motorcyclist has not yet been released, and officials continue working to determine the exact cause of the fatal collision.
