A pedestrian was killed in a fatal collision that shut down the westbound 210 Freeway in Azusa during the early morning commute on August 12, 2026. According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported shortly after 3:30 a.m. near the Citrus Avenue exit. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and confirmed that the collision involved a pedestrian. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin. Approximately 15 minutes after the crash, the CHP issued a SigAlert that closed all westbound lanes of the freeway and brought traffic to a standstill. Motorists were advised to detour using southbound State Route 57 to the 10 Freeway before reconnecting with the 210 Freeway near Irwindale Avenue.

The westbound carpool lane reopened at approximately 4:41 a.m., while the remaining lanes stayed closed during the investigation. Authorities have not yet disclosed what led to the crash or whether the driver remained at the scene following the collision. At approximately 6:21 a.m., the California Highway Patrol announced that the investigation had concluded and all westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway had reopened.
